How Part 107 currency works
Your FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate never expires. What expires is your recency — the currency that lets you exercise Remote PIC privileges. Under 14 CFR §107.65, you must have passed your initial aeronautical knowledge test, or completed recurrent training, within the previous 24 calendar months.
The FAA counts in whole calendar months, not rolling days. If you passed in March 2026, your recency runs through the end of the 24th calendar month after — March 31, 2028. This calculator applies that exact calendar-month arithmetic (the same date-math primitive AeroCopilot uses for its other FAA currency rules), so you get the true last-day-valid date, not an approximation.
To reset the clock, complete the FAA’s free online recurrent training, ALC-677, on the FAASTeam site. There is no test center, no fee, and no application — completing the course restarts your 24 calendar months. AeroCopilot never charges for ALC-677.
Being current is necessary, not sufficient. §107.65 recency is one box among registration (Part 47/48), Remote ID broadcast (Part 89), airspace authorization, and airworthiness. Current recency does not by itself clear a flight.
Note: §107.65 is a drone-specific rule. The manned-aircraft flight-review requirement (14 CFR §61.56) and the pilot-in-command proficiency check (§61.58) do not apply to Part 107 — there is no instructor endorsement and no §61.57 90-day landing currency for Remote PIC.
