About this dataset

NCEP Digital Aviation Forecast Support (DAFS) — gridded turbulence (GTG) and in-flight icing (IFI) fields for the CONUS. GRIB2 records fetched by byte-range from NOMADS and baked into the hazard tile pyramid: column-max EDR turbulence (MXEDPRM) plus per-level EDR (EDPARM) at the 3,000/6,000/9,000/12,000/18,000 ft altitude bands, and from the IFI file the icing severity, icing probability and supercooled-large-drop (SLD) fields at the 3,000/6,000/9,000/12,000 ft bands. Gridded turbulence overlay on the planning map and cruise-altitude hazard context, distinct from the G-AIRMET turbulence advisory.

Where this feed reaches

  • Continental United States

A region on this list means we fetch it. It is not a promise of station density: a listed region can still have sparse or no reporting sites near a given airport.
