Default arm values are based on a sample Cessna 172S. Always verify against your specific aircraft POH. This tool is for educational and planning purposes only.
Why weight and balance matters
An aircraft loaded outside its approved weight and balance envelope may not be controllable. An aft CG reduces longitudinal stability and can make stall recovery impossible. A forward CG increases stall speed and may prevent adequate flare during landing.
14 CFR 91.9 requires pilots to comply with the operating limitations in the POH, which include maximum gross weight and CG limits. Weight and balance must be computed before every flight — not estimated, computed.
This calculator uses a sample Cessna 172S envelope (max gross 2,550 lbs, CG range 35.0–47.3 inches aft of datum). Always verify against youraircraft's POH and most recent weight and balance sheet.
